Craig Mathew's Graduation, Kauai in May 2013 : David, JoLynn and Lucy took Marion to Kauai for her grandson, Craig's high school graduation in May 2013. There we met Conrad and Linda Mathews and friends. A total of 216 young men and women graduated. The ladies wore white and the men wore green. The exercise took play at Kapaa Baseball Stadium and the weather was thinking about turning wet but the combined will of all present sent the rainclouds packing. Everyone was in great spirits and the graduates were having a great time.

Tas in April 2013 : Tas is four now. He is really active, except when he is not. His favorite thing in the entire world is to be "twirled" in the garden. This involves a stick and JoLynn whizzing him round in circles. (David is not very good at it and Tas accepts her superior skill.) Sorry but a couple of the shots are not totally in focus. When he is not twirling, he uses all of his cat skills to look cool and snooze and snooze. His sister, Patch, is disgusted by twirling but does share his other skills, usually from a distance.

Christmas Eve 2012 at Jeanni's : For 2012 we arranged our invitations and only had a single party to attend on Christmas Eve. It was a zinger, though, as you can see from these pictures. The Clancy Clan was very well represented and only Mike was not there. The photos speak for themselves and you can really see the love and happiness that prevailed. Jeanni really has her work cut out for 2013.

Halloween at SL in 2012 : Nina said it best: "Thanks to everyone for participating in today's ghoulish lunch. From Gorilla's to Witches to Baseball beards and fans, it was lots of fun. Thanks to Marie for putting on a beautiful and scary set-up. Everything was perfection, from the food, to the music, to the decorations and even the steaming drinks. You are the master party planner!!! A special thanks to Mary, Anna, Michelle and Heather for helping with the set-up and the clean up. Have a safe and happy Halloween, and don't eat too much candy!" These are the pictures from my camera. They are the same set that was distributed via the network. The only changes that have been made are a couple of crops, some red eyes and for lens distortion. Jeanni's 50th Birthday Celebration in October 2012 : A big party was held at the Log Cabin in Fairfax for Jeanni the perpetual 19-year old. She had to finally admit to being slightly older but everyone said she is holding up wonderfully. A lot of people came from outside the Bay Area and we hired a band to give us all a chance to dance. Jeanni's uncle Scott, Grier and JoLynn chipped in for the hall, the food and the band and are owed many thanks. The start of plans for the next party are already in motion. Who has the next major anniversary? Who could it be?

Darren and Toora get married in September 2012 : Darren Nolan and Toora O'Mahony were married on Friday 21st, September at Vin Hill House, Sebastopol, CA. These photos are from the ones that David took and are a mixture that includes personal shots of his day with Rita and Jolynn and shots of the wedding itself. Toora was ravishing and Darren looked as happy as we have ever seen him. The love shined from both of them. Everyone was taking pictures so these are just a few of the ones that we thought were good. Fairfax Festival Parade in June 2012 : As always the Fairfax Festival Parade was a Marin County highlight. This year did not disappoint. It is impossible to capture the parade from every angle. Here is the parade I saw and some of the people I saw it with. In particular I enjoyed the longest float, which was a salmon as far as I could tell. The wacky hairdos were fabulous and the Nave Patrola were very special. Probably my favorite was the folks from Wildcare. JoLynn was driving the van. For extra credit both the Nave Patrola and the Wildcare folks are here in 720p video. See them move. See them fall down. See them do the Quail Dance. See you next year.

Memorial Day Party at Jeanni's in May 2012 : Jeanni was inspired to host a party for Memorial Day on the Sunday before so oysters were procured and Alex was recruited as a Shucker! They turned out to be wonderful and everyone had fun. Pat Clancy senior and Sandy turned out and helped with the eating part of the oysters. Sean and Jeannine brought Sarah, who was not shy about showing off her ping pong moves. The yard was decorated by one of the kids, who chose “Serender or Die ” as the theme. Let the Summer commence!

Cedarburg, Wisconsin Trip in May 2012 : JoLynn and David took a trip to Wisconsin to visit with family. We saw Bernie and Loretta, who are still loving their little house near the Big House. They have killer Tuesday morning donuts at 8:30 if you are interested. Roger, Mari and brood were next and Alex's graduation was a standout. Brenda came by and visited and Roger cooked some great Bratwurst to add to the picnic provided by Loretta, Mari and Brenda. Finally we saw the Nelsons, Ron and Barb for some local "geezer" blues music at the Newport in Milwaukee. All in all a great trip.

A Memorial for Marlene Inman in April 2012 : Family and friends met at the Armory in Volcano, California at a memorial for Marlene Inman. Marlene was one of the world's wonders. She would help anyone and everyone. She could cook the most marvelous meals in a trice. Her wit was legendary. Often she would zing you and move on. Moments later you would suddenly realize that you had been caught. It was almost impossible to come back as fast with your own comment against such quick thoughts. A variety of people remembered Marlene and all with fondness. The Armory hall was beautifully decorated and the food and drink was glorious. The family grouped for a portrait or two and special photo boards had been created showing scenes from her long life with Chuck, her adoring husband. We attended with Helen Puerling, who had introduced us about five years ago. Do not miss the other pictures by clicking on Inman above. Marlene will be missed. We have lost a bright light.

All the ingredients were there: the great people, the fabulous food and unique entertainments. Everyone had tales to tell and at the end of the party John did his "Drink a pint of Guinness standing on his Head" trick, which is included here as a long, tall video. We're looking forward to 2013.

Google Earth Street Views from 2011 : This album is a little different. I fired up Google Earth for a the first time in a long time. Naturally I first went to our own home and was amused to see washing on the line. Next I visited Biddlecombe farm where my pal, Roddy, lives. It is in Hampshire. From there I nipped over to where my mum lives in Rustington and then finally to where I lived from age 6 to age 16 in Glasgow. These are simple screen captures of the Google Earth window but they are all from sometime in 2011 and luckily show nothing embarrassing.

Lunch with the Lowenthals in December 2011 : JoLynn and David met and had lunch with the Lowenthals in late December of 2011. JoLynn met Mark at Craftways around 1994 when they both worked on the magazine "Cross Stitch and Country Crafts". Mark created a Mac application to allow transcription of Cross-Stitch patterns to the computer, which could then be published in the new magazine that JoLynn designed. Mark left Craftways before JoLynn and before long married Jeanine, his childhood sweetheart. We had seen Mark and Jeanine only briefly in the intervening years. Now for the first time we got to meet Mia and Hanna. Mia is a couple of years older and very outgoing and Hanna is much more serious and a little shy. We had wonderful Korean food at the Ranch 99 and caught up. Fun times!

Christmas Eve 2011 at Jeanni's : This year we double-dated the Christmas Eve parties by going first to the Burlinghams and then to Jeanni's. We arrived after the meal but in time for the gift exchange, which was hilarious. All the usual suspects were there and this year we were honored by Pat Clancy Senior and Sandy and Don Clancy and Karen. We missed the Bur boys but maybe we will see them tonight for Christmas Eve.

Holidays 2011 with the Burlinghams and the Lombardis : We were lucky this year to be invited to both of the Burlingham Holiday celebrations: Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. We had such fun! Lucy and Rue hosted both parties and their sister Blair, husband Matt and kids Kelsey and Laurel and their father Vaughn were there. For Thanksgiving JoLynn cooked a Turkey and Matt created a vegetarian Lasagna and separate Pasta Dish. Lucy and Rue added all the homey touches and everyone gritted their teeth at my terrible puns. At this rate next year we are going to have Roast Prime Rib with baked and roasted potatoes and lots of lovely rich gravy.

Wildcare Holiday Party 2011 : The Wildcare Staff Holiday Party was great fun this year. The Gift Exchange was as raucous as ever and a couple of the gifts were even something other than a Squirrel! Karen and Todd did a great job hosting and the food and drink was purely delightful. Maybe next year David Latour will don his tails and top hat again. That was really all that was missing. The humor was certainly in attendance.

Halloween at SL in 2011 : This year Mary organized a very special Halloween contest for the staff at SL Corp. As you can see from the pictures there were some extremely creative costumes. My personal favorite was Darth Conner with Musical Mehran as a close runner up. The "official" prize winners were Rodney the vampire, Elvis Burla and Mark the monkey. The contributed pictures from the "out-of-towners" are at the end. Well done everyone.

Two outings with Mitchell and Helen in 2011 : David and JoLynn had two fun outings with Mitchell and Helen this year. On both occasions we ate first at the Fremont Diner, http://thefremontdiner.com/, just south of the town of Sonoma. On the first day in August after lunch we proceeded to the square in Sonoma and took a walk which included the old Mission. On the send day we drove to old town Napa and had a walk that ended up at the Oxbow Public Market. On each occasion we had a great time. David and Mitchell met 25 years ago at Schlage Lock in San Francisco.

Samuel P Taylor Park in August 2011 : Here we are, lucky to live in Marin County: warm, awesome scenery and quiet. OK, most of the time it is not so quiet. The house next door has suddenly been sold and the new owner has chosen to refurbish his new pride and joy with every power tool he can rent, steal or borrow. Not only that he is determined to leave them on “idle” at all times. The last straw this weekend was the tree chipper. You know. The thing that was used in Fargo to dispose of poor William H Macy. Our neighbor is only doing tree branches not people, fortunately. JoLynn suggested we seek some peace and quiet so we drove to Samuel P Taylor Park near Lagunitas and just sat by a creek and enjoyed the views. Of course, everyone else in the entire Bay Area had the same idea at the same moment so we saw lots of people. Luckily most brought their swimsuits and not their power tools.

A visit from Hawaii and a Birthday Party in July 2011 : We have just had a visit from the Mathews, who live in Kauai. Conrad, Linda and son, Craig came to visit Conrad's mom, Marion and her sister Helen. These pictures were taken on a trip to Pancho Villa's restaurant in Fairfax, where we enjoyed a nice meal. The cake was for Marion, who celebrated her 80th birthday on Thursday. We all had a great time at her party. Many happy returns, Marion.

A Visit with Birdie and the Schulzes in April 2011 : Part of the fun of trips back to Wisconsin is finding new people. Last year JoLynn and her cousin Gary Schultz found out about each other on Facebook. They were quick to arrange a meeting. This year as part of the trip JoLynn arranged to bring her aunt Jan to visit with the Schultzes and meet with Birdie, JoLynn's father's and Aunt Jan's cousin. Gary shared some vintage photos from the Meseberg side. Birdie showed us her latest puzzle and kept us all entertained.

Train Trip on the California Zephyr from California to Chicago in April 2011 : David and JoLynn decided to use the dual occasions of her father, Bernie's, 87th birthday and David's 60th to go back see the family in Wisconsin. They could have flown out, eaten some ice cream and flown back but they decided to stop and smell their lives. The Amtrak service to Chicago from San Francisco (actually Emeryville) takes just over two days and the train is called the California Zephyr They had an absolutely wonderful time. Even, when the train broke down a quarter or a mile after setting off, it could not dampen their spirits. The fix took a couple of hours and then proceeded. On the trip they met a lot of very interesting people and made firm friends with Oliver Richardt, a television producer, who was preparing to make a documentary for German television about the California Zephyr. Although all of these shots were taken through the sealed windows of the train, they really show the beautiful countryside that the train passes through.

Bernie's 87th Birthday Party in April 2011 : Bernie Goecks celebrated his 87th birthday with friends and family in Germantown in April 2011. People came from as far away as California to attend. Much hilarity ensued and much wonderful food and drink were consumed. The mother duck sitting on a clutch of eggs just outside the party room even wished Bernie well.

Chicago in April 2011 : As part of the "treat" for David a trip to the Field Museum in Chicago was required. Some of the critters were not real but the Bratwurst sure was! The eating highlight was a visit to the Chicago Pizza and Over Grinder Co for their special pizza. It is made upside down and plonked into you plate right-side up full of whole mushrooms, sausage and sauce. The visit to Evanston was concluded with a pizza from Lou Malnati's. A booboo was made and the pizza ended up sausage-free but otherwise grand. JoLynn is pictured giving her opinion on "Chocolate Chip" pizza. Yes, you read right, chocolate chip. That's against the law in most states! The final food from Chicago was from the lunch sandwich queue near the downtown train station complete with live saxophonist! Chicago Works! Food winner - Chicago Pizza and Over Grinder Co's special pizza by acclamation!

Trip to San Francisco in December 2010 : On the day before New Year's Eve 2010, we dragged Alex into San Francisco, "for his own good". Otherwise he would, being a typical teenager, have stayed in bed, "for his own good". First we went to Clement Street and had a Dim Sum lunch. The service was fairly slow and Jeanni was quite irritable when the first plate arrived and she could not eat it for fear of a scallop allergy. After lunch we went and bought a roast duck and some Bao (steamed pork buns). This gave David the chance to snap everything that moved and all the food in the store displays. Does anyone know what the name of the item in DSCN0328.jpg is? It looks like it may be made from licorice. *** Update: re: DSCN0328.jpg... Our friends David and Philana Yu have supplied a great answer. See black sesame jelly rolls *** After Clement street we went to the Japanesque exhibit at the Palace of the Legion of Honor. They do not allow photography in the special exhibits so we had to be content with a couple of statues and a fresco. We did overhear an amusing comment as we looked at the fresco, where a mother was admonishing her son: "See how small those penises are? That's what happens if you don't eat your veggies!" The kid in question looked completely aghast at hearing his mother say the word "penis".

Cats in December 2010 : Officially we have two cats, Tas and Patch. Our third cat is Mooch who lives outdoors and, as a kindness to us, permits us to feed her. In this set it is pretty clear that Tas was trying hard to have a nap. Patch was prepared to be snapped but a little miffed about being woken up. Mooch, outside, was feeling magnanimous and let me take a couple of poses, again as a kindness to the weird human. JoLynn insists that the shot of Patch from above unfairly distorts her size. I think it is fairly accurate. She is simply "vertically challenged". I included the two with just the leg and the fur as close ups shots to see how good the macro feature on my new camera is. The hairs are fairly sharp.

Holiday Walk to Fairfax in December 2010 : These are pictures from David's new camera that Santa brought. They were taken on a walk to Fairfax that we take fairly often. The pictures are an amusing mixture of subjects with everything from Cupid to a "fixer-upper" house that we often wish we could buy and fix up. The food shots are from the local organic store called "The Good Earth" and there is also a snap of our old apartment above the restaurant that used to be called the Koffee Klatch. The last couple of shots are from the deck at home looking out over the Ross Valley.

Christmas Eve 2010 at the Taylor's : David, JoLynn and Jeanni held a party for Christmas Eve again this year. This year we had a ham and all the trimmings. Various guests also brought lots of potluck food. Once again we played the familiar Secret Santa game and had lots of fun. The high spot was definitely when Sarah instructed her dad to steal the electric candle. As everyone was leaving Cassidy scored a coat that JoLynn's mother, Jill had worn in the early 1950's. Cassidy looked gorgeous as she modeled it. Happy New Year 2011, everyone!

SL Lunch at Poggio's in December 2010 : SL Corporation had its Holiday lunch at Poggio's in Sausalito today. Everyone local to the office was here. The folks who are off-site and away were missed. Perhaps these pictures will make it seem a little more like they were there. We had a wonderful lunch and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Congratulations on a great year everybody!

Wildcare Holiday Party in December 2010 : Once again Karen and Todd hosted the Wildcare holiday party at their house. This was a louder and more “up front” year in every way. The food was amazing as usual. Last year we were threatened with cheese sandwiches and diet soda, so everyone redoubled their efforts to avert that! David Latour outdid himself as the Master of Ceremonies complete with Top Hat and Tails, while Mary and her daughter Emily showed of their dazzling figures in stunning party dresses. Of course we played the Gift Exchange game again. In 2009 people were kind of wimpy in the theft department. We need not have worried, this year the thieving was positively vicious once Mary explained how to “game’ the game. There were 30 participants. If the number grows for 2011, we can rent the Filmore. David tried hard to limit the “thinking” time each person was allowed. It didn’t have any effect though. The dogs very exceptionally behaved this year. Maybe it was the threat of a horde of rodents from Wildcare that kept them on their toes.

Trip to Tenaya Lodge in November 2010 : David, JoLynn, Rita, Jeanni and Grier went to the Tenaya Lodge in November. The excuse was that the CCWR was holding their annual Symposium there and JoLynn was presenting. Her presentation was well attended but she had projector problems, which cut short the Q & A session. The surprise was that it snowed for the first time this winter. We had excitement with getting the cars out from under the snow and even had some chains installed. Jeanni and Grier were brave and went home via Yosemite. Much to JoLynn's disgust David and Rita chickened out and insisted on going home via the normal route 49 to avoid most of the snow.

Tas's new kitten, Patch, makes her appearance : Tas was getting bored so we decided he needed a kitten of his own. It took several trips to the Humane Society before we found the perfect puss. Her name was not good enough so we renamed her Patch because she has an orangey patch, a bit like a saddle, on her back. Tas is no longer bored. He loves his new girlfriend but is definitely more pooped at the end of the day. He is very protective of her and looks very concerned if we seem to be taking chances with her safety. Patch thinks Tas is the very best and occasionally even stops moving long enough to be photographed. These snaps are culled from literally hundreds that are mostly of the "here is where a kitten was" variety. Welcome Patch!

A Visit the Gary Schultzes in July 2010 : David and JoLynn stopped in to visit JoLynn's second cousin, Gary, after seeing Tanta Jan. We met Gary and Irma and were introduced to Gary's mom, Birdie, who is 90. She enjoys jigsaw puzzles and Gary collects antique bottles. Their lovely house was moved a mile over farmland to its current location and is wonderfully fitted inside.

A Visit to Pearl in Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin in July 2010 : As part of the "great" Wisconsin visit of 2010, David and JoLynn visited JoLynn's Tanta Pearl in Arbor Vitae. Pearl's daughter Holly was there and we invited Pearl's second cousin Lorie Goeks to visit as well. We all spent some time looking at old photos of the Goeks side and wondering at the different pronunciation of Goeks (gayx) versus Goecks (yayx). Each sounded simply wrong to the other side. Next we went to lunch and then visited the Northwoods Wildlife center where Holly volunteers. We met some cool owls and were given a personalized guided tour, "since we were in the business!" When back at Pearl's house we took a trip down to the lake at the back of the house. We were all very pleased with the visit.

A Visit to the Rozeks in July 2010 : Tanta Jan was pleased to see David, JoLynn, Bernie and Loretta when we all visited. Jan's daughters Terry and Maria were there too! JoLynn was immediately targetted for play by Jan's dachshund, Peanut. (She has another name but it just means Peanut!) See the last image in this gallery. It is actually a video. We were given a tour of Martha and Ben's old house, which Maria and her husband have been rehabilitating. Maria even went and "found" a special tree from her childhood that she could plant where a previous tree of the same genus had been before. She had to "find" it because it is considered a weed by most folk. Jan has recently had some medical news but was in great form for our visit. Maria was very entertaining as well. We wish Jan all the best luck with her health.

Milwaukee Art Museum in July 2010 : JoLynn and David could not be in Milwaukee without visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum. A Party at Bern and Loretta's on July 4, 2010 : This was a truly wonderful traditional "Fourth of July" BBQ at JoLynn's dad's house in Germantown. Almost the entire family was there: Bern, Loretta, Roger, Mari, Dave, Pat, Brenda and Wayne. The kids came too: Alex, Lauren, Katie, Nick, Mitch, Kristin and Stacy. (I hope I haven't missed anyone!) Wayne, Roger and Dave fired up the BBQ and the ladies provided the cakes and side dishes. There was beer, wine and soda and great company. Some gossip was dished and some technology debated. A great time was had by all!

The Pfister Hotel and surroundings in Milwaukee in July 2010 : JoLynn got all excited about our forthcoming trip to Wisconsin and booked us in for a "treat" at the Pfister. It is a fabulous old-time hotel and has everything. We thoroughly enjoyed the piano bar and meeting all of the friendly people. The only other similar hotel that we have visited is the Drake in Chicago, which is equally full of personality.

The Nelsons at Karl Ratzch's in July 2010 : One of the main reasons for David and JoLynn to visit Wisconsin was to see JoLynn's cousin, Ron and his wife, Barb and, Ron's brother Gareth. JoLynn smartly suggested that we combine that reunion with some traditional Milwaukee German cuisine at the famous Ratzsch's restaurant. David was having trouble with his Nikon and its flash but Ron was generous and suggested that "we could come back when David learns how to operate his equipment". Luckily JoLynn had brought her Canon point-and-shoot and David even managed a couple of videos with his dandy new iPhone 4. We all had a lovely time and Gareth generously paid for the whole thing! Deal!

Lunch with the Dennises in Milwaukee in July 2010 : When David and JoLynn flew to Milwaukee in early July the first people they met were Al and Lyn Dennis. JoLynn has known Al since High School and it was great to catch up again. We went to El Fuego in South Milwaukee and had some super Mexican food. If you look carefully in the reflection of the window behind us you can see the waitress taking the picture. We had great fun.

A Party for Mike and Vicky's 50th in May 2010 : Sean and Colleen hosted a backyard (and garage) BBQ party to honor Mike Clancy and Vicky Bur. They had both recently turned 50 and it seemed like a fun excuse. The weather in Novato was still a little chilly so the participants ended up eating dinner in the garage, which was beautifully decorated for the occasion. The party theme was the '70's and a lot of people wore their best disco clobber. Scott and Mike really stood out and Don and his "disco belly" were a big hit. Vicky has a "thing" about bellies so she was teased mercilessly.

Christmas Eve 2009 at the Taylor's : David, JoLynn and Jeanni held a party for Christmas Eve again this year. This year we had Cioppino, which is Italian Seafood soup. Various guests also brought lots of potluck food. Vicky outdid herself from 2008 with even more glorious sweet stuff. Her Pecan Brittle is so light it has no calories! For some reason the kids needed to have contest to see who could make the weirdest looking face. Who do you think won? Once again we played the familiar Secret Santa game and had lots of fun. WildCare Holiday Party in December 2009 : Once again Wildcare held its holiday party at Karen and Todd’s house. The kitchen project is complete and it is a stunner. Karen and Todd were gracious hosts as usual. The food was astounding. We’re all getting a little complacent about it though. In 2010 it’s cheese sandwiches and diet soda! This year David Latour graced us with a tuxedo and Melanie wore her best shoes. The tuxedo earned David some pickled eggs. We still don’t know how well the shoes worked out. Melanie? The “secret Santa” game was fairly tame this year. In 2010 you will be required to sign a “cutthroat affidavit” to play. Much more stealing will be required. There were at least fourteen dogs at the event. Six of them were called Tucker. We are thinking of allowing “canine participation” in the game in future. They have two secret weapons: they can tell what is inside the wrapping by smell alone and can employ “droolage” if a gift is too desirable to be stolen. Staff are encouraged to apply as canines if the cutthroat requirement is too manly. (David Latour is automatically considered “cutthroat-ready” unless he tries to recycle the eggs!)

Lisa and Daniel visit to San Francisco in December 2009 : Lisa McDowell dropped in the San Francisco Bay Area in early December 2009. She waited patiently until her friend Daniel arrived and then they nipped over to Napa for a couple of days. Lisa had spent the previous four months on an epic trip around the world starting from England in July by flying to India and gradually inched nearer to California via Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. There are some contributed pictures from her trip in a previous album here. One of her requests was a quick trip to Wildcare in San Rafael and she virtually demanded some Dim Sum in San Francisco. Eleven years is just too long! She had fond memories of a trip to the Harbor Village restaurant at the Embarcadero with us for Dim Sum in 1998. Sadly the Harbor Village is no more. David and JoLynn recruited Jeanni and Grier to take us to a favorite restaurant and we all had a lovely meal. Afterward we visited the Legion of Honor to absorb a little culture before heading home to Marin

The Kiwi Cousins visit Marin in November 2009 : Moira and Robyn Taylor from Wellington, New Zealand came to visit the Taylors on their way home from New York in Early November 2009. Robyn had run in the New York marathon the previous weekend with a time of 4 hours and 27 minutes. This was only her second major marathon. Her previous was in New Zealand. Her sisters Moira and Alison and her brother Alec went with her for support. Alison and Alec then returned to where they are living. Alison is working in Indonesia and Alec in northern Canada. We took the sisters to the top of Twin Peaks in San Francisco to get good views of the bay and then took them for a Chinese meal in Chinatown. We traveled on a Cable Car for a few blocks on the way. On Sunday we all went out to Tony's for oysters and seafood in Marshall followed by a visit to Point Reyes Station.

BBQ for Jeanni's Birthday at 75 in October 2009 : We held a Barbecue at home for Jeanni’s birthday last week. Jeanni has always been 19 as far as we remember. We were lucky to have a Salmon to grill and a small Turkey to rotate above the Weber. A bunch of Jeanni’s relatives visited and more were missed. We did get to see Jeanni’s sister Bridget with son Daniel, Jeanni’s uncle Scott with wife Vicky and son Luke. Jeanni’s brother Sean with friend Colleen. Jeanni’s brother Mike with friend Valerie. Grier was here with sons Chance and Lance. We also had Jeanni’s son, Alex and pals Lucy, Rue and Helen. Grier cooked the Salmon which was fabulous and David managed to avoid overcooking the Turkey. The carrot cake for dessert was divine! As you will see a great time was had by all.

Tas makes his appearance in August 2009 : David and JoLynn have adopted a new kitten called Tas. We think it was short for Tasmanian Devil - a joke by someone at the Marin Humane Society, where we found him. He's a handsome little guy and very smart. JoLynn, obviously concerned that he was fading away, nudged me at 5 am and said: "Why don't you get him a little dish of cat kibble and put it beside the bed?" He ran happily downstairs and straight to his food dish in the kitchen. "Is this what you're looking for?" I just went back to bed. His ancestry is pure Heinz "tabby" with a splash of yellower fur and cute black foot pads. Already we can see he is going to be a terror in the garden. I doubt these will be his last pictures as he settles in. He must be lucky! This is the 100th post on Detayls. Welcome, dude!

Connie and Jim Infield visited in May 2009 : Connie and Jim Infield came to visit Helen from Germany in May, 2009. Jim fixed everything in sight if it so much as looked at him funny. Everything is now gleaming and healthy. We enjoyed their company and all the stories that were related. My favorite moment was watching a slightly sick Connie eat a Godzilla size 24 oz burrito and then demand a dessert. True class.

SL Comedy Hour on April Fool's Day 2009 : Anna and Michelle created a wonderful "stand up" comedy club at SL on April Fool's Day. Everyone was encouraged to try their pitch and it was great fun. Stinson Beach in March 2009 : The Clancy clan decided to hold a Barbeque at Stinson Beach on March 28, 2009. This turned out to be the first gorgeous sunny day of the year so everyone else came too! We had a wonderful time and watched with some amazement as a bunch of young teens got busted for some infraction. The Park Rangers lectured the poor kids until their ears started to bleed and then issued them tickets for around $150 before delivering them into the arms of their thrilled parents. (No pictures - would you try and snap the long arm of the law in the commission of their duty?) The frisbees flew and the hot dogs disappeared. It was a glorious day.

Wildcare's 2009 Gala : These are some photos JoLynn took at WildCare's Gala, which was held on February 6, 2009. Most of the staff and a good number of volunteers showed up to help, so we had enough help so everyone could enjoy the event and socialize without something falling through the cracks. The dancing was much livelier this year, because some professional dancers were hired, and they made the dance floor a little less intimidating.

Harford Pier at Avila Beach Pier in January 2009 : While JoLynn attended a "critter" meeting, David, Helen and Marion visited the pier at Avila Beach. The wildlife was out in force and, in particular, the pelicans seemed to have taken over. The pelican at the beginning and the end of the set may even be the same bird. We walked all the way to the restaurant at the end of the pier and awarded ourselves with a drink and a giggle. Then we went and hung out with the harbor seals while they had a snooze. It was a cool day and not particularly sunny but the light was very even.

Christmas Eve 2008 at the Taylors : David, JoLynn and Jeanni held a party for Christmas Eve this year. The food was great. We had Jambalaya and lots of potluck food from various guests. After everyone had eaten we played the familiar Secret Santa game and had lots of fun. This was a politer crowd than the Wildcare party that we had a couple of weeks back. There was a lot less present stealing. The Toyon tree was still the Christmas-tree-of-record and will be planted after the turn of the year. Happy New Year 2009, everyone!

WildCare Holiday Party in December 2008 : Every year WildCare of Marin has held a Christmas party for the staff and their significant others. This year the party was held at our house for a change. The party is a giant potluck with a fabulous mixture of food and drink. The turkey and stuffing is always appreciated and Juan Carlos brought a marvellous platter of Enchiladas Molé prepared by his own hands. Other dishes included Mushroom Pie, Fennel Salad and, of course, Chili Egg Bake. The highlight of the evening was the "Gift Exchange" as it is every year. The idea is that you bring a gift and then draw a number. As each player's number is called, that person can choose to "steal" a previously-opened gift up to three times or open a wrapped gift. The gifts were great but, for some strange reason, nobody stole the Diffuser. The little mouse door-holder-opener was much sought after as was the cheese board. With the tragic loss of Julie Malet this year, Anya stepped up and prepared the Egg Bake. We all toasted Julie in remembrance while her ghost helped Alison pick at the turkey carcass. We miss you Julie! Happy Holidays everyone.

SL 25th Anniversary Party at Cavallo Point in December 2008 : This year Sherrill-Lubinski celebrated the 25th anniversary of its founding with a grand dinner at Cavallo Point Lodge in Marin County just under the Golden Gate Bridge. We were all feted with many stories of the past 25 years and presented with awards. Tom gave us a great speech where he remembered the people who helped grow the company. In particular, we all raised our glasses to Peter Sherrill, who passed away several years ago. He would have loved to see us all now and enjoyed our common success. Here's to another great 25 years!

Comedy Night in Mill Valley in November 2008 : Katherine organized a meal and comedy show outing for us in Mill Valley at the Throckmorton Theater for Mark Pitta and Friends Comedy Night. In all eleven of us went along: Mary, Mike and Lisa, Mehran, Katherine and Gustavo, Katherine’s sister, Kristen, Nina and Harry and David and JoLynn. The meal at La Ginestra was excellent and the comedy was very funny. David was even picked to be an “invited member of the audience” and participated in a demonstration of “Looping” with another audience member. Check out the last two items in the album for video of his stunning comedy debut! (Broadband internet connection is advised.)

International Potluck Lunch at SL in November 2008 : This month at SL we celebrated our office's diverse nationalities. We each brought a dish, appetizer or dessert that represented our country of origin or family heritage. There were some fabulous offerings and we even had Mary's special "exploding" Swiss Fondue! Ed Koo shared photographer duty with David so David even appears in a couple of places. (Thanks, Ed!) Sorry for the red eye in a couple of shots. These pictures were not edited in any way. Sushi in JapanTown in October 2008 : David and JoLynn took a quick trip into JapanTown in San Francisco to have some sushi. JoLynn had been sorting a few old photographs and found some of her cousin James. We remembered a visit with him when he seemed to eat his weight in sushi. We were most impressed. The only thing that has changed about this place is the prices. The sushi is still as great as it has always been.

The Inmans and Sutter Creek in October 2008 : Helen, JoLynn and David took a trip to Sutter Creek in the Gold Country to visit Marlene and Charles Inman. Marlene, Charles and Helen have been friends for a long while so the stories were great and came thick and fast. Marlene cooked us a wonderful meal while we all got to know each other. On Sunday we all went and had breakfast at the George Hotel in Volcano, just down the road from Sutter Creek. The Inmans ran the hotel for a while until they sold it a few years back. We all enjoyed seeing the place again, greeting old friends and making a few new ones.

A Day Out in Marshall and Point Reyes in September 2008 : David and JoLynn introduced Helen Puerling and her friends Allen and Betsy Giles to Tony's in Marshall. The oysters were glorious and the fish excellent. On the way home we stopped at Point Reyes Station for a cup of coffee from the Bovine Bakery and the ladies did a little shopping. Wish you could have been there!

Emma and James' Wedding in August 2008 : Emma Taylor and James Coxon were married on Saturday 23rd August, 2008 in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. These are a selection of the shots that David and JoLynn took over the course of the celebration. Good luck and best wishes were extended by all who attended. The ceremony and the reception were held at the Saracen's Head Hotel, which dates back to the 1400's. There was much fun and some the pictures at the end are taken in "disco" light. It was a great pleasure to meet Emma and James' extended family with representatives of four generations attending.

Dining for Wildlife, May 2008 : The regular crew met again this year in San Rafael to support Dining for Wildlife. This year we chose the restaurant Il Davide and it was a huge success. When David started knocking the place down in an attempt to get a better shot, the manager even forgave us saying “I needed to wash that part of the floor anyway!” For some reason this year was a year for faces. Allison and David Latour have both achieved “fridge” status with their renditions. Join us next year if you dare!

Paddy's Day 2008 at SL : Anna and Michelle did it again! They arranged a great party for St. Patrick's Day, complete with quizzes, prizes and great green food. The Leprechauns lost the quiz but everyone had a great time. We even had a visit from our own personal Leprechaun called Natalie.

San Francisco on March 2, 2008 : A quick trip in to San Francisco to see the new Annie Leibovitz exhibition. First we stopped at JapanTown for some sushi and a quick lemon treat and then went over to the Legion of Honor where the exhibition was held. Her photographs are completely spectacular. Morro Bay, California on January 26, 2008 : Recently on a trip to Morro Bay, California, David got a chance to try out this new Nikon 18-200 zoom Lens. It seems to work very well and helps steady the camera to avoid shaking so the images tend to be sharper at longer shutter speeds. Check out the bird and otter pictures to see what that means.

Halloween 2007 at SL : Once again Anna "the Cat" and Michelle "the Devil" did us proud. We had a small party on Halloween to encourage folk to dress up and have a laugh! There were two prizes: first prize to Heather for her "American" tourist and second prize to Katherine who came as Nefertiti! Grahame seemed to stay a "cut above" the rest of us, while Brad was hailed as the "Big Banana". A Union Soldier, David Moody, was seen looking for "Hawkeye" Meagher. "Ugly" Mary had fabulous eyebrows and used them to fight off Mehran as a warrior. Marie helped with the decorations and wore her most "bewitching" black outfit. Praful really got his teeth into the role, while Kristina was unaware of all of the PostIt notes that she had been "given". Ed Berman was briefly so scared by all of this that his hair turned blonde! Jody showed up as himself on his last day as an SL employee. Boo Hoo!

Evanston Rocks! : As part of a trip to Wisconsin we stopped in Evanston for a couple of days. While there we took a walk on to the campus at NorthWestern University there. At the edge of the grounds on the shores of Lake Michigan a large number of rocks have been installed as a breakwater. Over the years, obviously, the students have been painting these rocks and their designs are quite interesting. I thought I would put a few here for a wider audience to enjoy.

Bingo at SL in September 2007 : Michelle and Anna arranged for the folks at SL to play some Bingo. Sodas, Popcorn and candy were available. Real prizes were awarded. These were mostly gift cards to local stores. Coffee cards from both Peets and Starbucks. Mary won the $50 card from Best Buy and Praful got a $25 Home Depot card. Ted seemed very pleased with his $15 Peets card. The Las Vegas machine doesn't need to worry too much about SL taking them on! A good time was had by all.

Emma won a contest for a free flight and hotel to New York and she decided to bring her new fiancé to meet us. We had great time and ate way too much food. David Goecks on the West Coast May 2007 : JoLynn's brother Dave had some business to conduct in Portland, Oregon recently. After a successfully concluding that work he visited with David and JoLynn in Marin. Over the weekend we spent time in San Francisco, took the ferry to the city, visited ChinaTown and had a wonder lunch in Marshall. Dave seemed to develop a taste for oysters. After a trip to Bolinas and a walk on the beach, we just spent time enjoying some great food and each other's company. Dave taught us the basics of Sheep's Head, a favorite card game in Wisconsin but I don't think we are tournament level yet.

A Trip with Rita to Death Valley in April 2007 : Rita came to visit David and JoLynn in California in April, 2007. The plan was to take a trip to Death Valley and take care of a couple of JoLynn's wild animal rehabilitation meetings. We went via Monterey, down Highway 1 to Cambria, then on to San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and then Death Valley. After a quick trip to Bakersfield we came home tired but happy.

Willits in April 2007 : JoLynn agreed to give a wildlife rehabilitation class in Willits on Easter Saturday. David and JoLynn drove up on the Friday and stayed at the Etta Place Bed and Breakfast. The garden was simply stunning! The most amazing feature was the Frog Pond, which hosted a stunning Frog Chorus every night. Every so often they would just stop and then all take off again in a stupendous roar.
